Your Wedding Dance with Tamra

Your First Dance on your Wedding Day is a special and memorable moment for every couple but it can be a very daunting prospect to dance together in front of an audience of your guests! Nerves can take over and it can become a moment of when time seems to go in slow motion and you wish the ground would open and swallow you up! Neither of these feelings are what you want to feel on your special day.

So, practice makes perfect! Why not have a couple of lessons to not only give you the confidence to enjoy your first dance as husband and wife but also give yourselves a moment to connect together in what can be a busy and stressful time leading up to your big day.

Whether you want a routine choreographed or just simply want to learn a few moves to give you confidence on the dance floor, my wealth of experience as a professional dancer, choreographer and teacher, can tailor your first dance to your ability and desires. Absolutely, no experience is necessary, just a desire to enjoy yourselves!

As assistant Creative Director and Choreographer on the X Factor in 2009 & 2010, and The Voice in 2012 and working with music artists such as The Sugababes, The Wanted, Olly Murs, Katherine Jenkins, and the X Factor finalists, I love creating innovative ideas to captivate your audience. Or if it’s something more traditional you desire, I can teach you the art to making it look effortless and classy on the dance floor.

We could not recommend Tamra highly enough. Rosie and I wanted something that wasn’t too complicated for our first dance but also wasn’t just the ‘huggy shuffle’. When we met up with Tamra we played our song choice to her and she quickly put together 4 or five moves that progressed in complexity so that we could find our level together.
It was extremely relaxed and despite Tamra’s experience of being a choreographer for the X Factor, there was no sense that this was beneath her. She made sure that we were comfortable with the moves we had chosen and at such a busy time organising so many things, having someone take that burden and give you a routine that you knew looked good was a big weight off our minds. Timing the step changes to knowing when to usher the guests on the floor were all great tips that made the first dance go without a hitch - We even got a cheer!

Tamra was fantastic helping us with our first dance. We all had a good laugh trying to work out what an earth we were going to do. She made us feel totally at ease and not embarrassed that neither of us had rhythm. She choreographed a routine that was romantic and fun and not cheesy! When she left we felt totally prepared to hit the dance floor!
Highly recommend.

I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Tamra as a choreographer. We needed help with our first dance at the wedding as we a) had no inspiration & only basic dance skills and b) a very limited window to sort something out. After a couple of hours with your expert tuition and the video you took to help us remember it, we were ready! Amongst other impressive-looking but easy-to-execute steps you suggested a move that meant that my dress swayed from side to side which looked fab and it’s come out really well in some of the photos. We still get comments! It was a wonderful part of a fabulous evening. Thank you so much.
